Fire Prevention Week Open House!

 Sat Oct 5 / 8:00am - 3:00pm

All are invited to join Richmond Hill’s Firefighters and Fire Prevention staff, as well as Sparky the Fire Dog for a day full of fun and education.
The days's activities include:

• Live demonstrations, including auto extrication, high angle rope rescue, and even a firefighter climbing to the top of the aerial ladder.
• Opportunities for children to experience driving a fire truck, using a video simulator.
• A Fire Safety House, where everyone will learn how to ‘Prevent Kitchen Fires’ (this year’s theme), and about the importance of having a home escape plan. Children who enter the Fire Safety House will participate in a fire escape plan by using ladders to climb out the window when the house is filled with theatrical smoke.
• Live entertainment featuring local talent
• Face painting
• Crafts table
• Many more family friendly activities!

 Discover Your Inner Artist this weekend at the Mill Pond Gallery!  The Richmond Hill Group of Artists are opening our doors and welcoming you to come and have a look at everything we have to offer the artist and art lover alike.
On our gallery walls you will see original artwork by many of our talented members.  Artists will be demonstrating their painting styles and techniques ongoing throughout the weekend.  Come in and meet some of our instructors during our regularly scheduled classes on Saturday and Sunday.  And finally try your hand, we plan to hold some sketching sessions at the gallery or the Mill Pond Park, weather permitting.

 The Mill Pond Gallery is located in the heart of Richmond Hill across from the beautiful Mill Pond Park.
The gallery is open from 11 am to 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

15th annual Mill Pond Splash on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Mill Pond Park from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m

Mill Pond Splash is a lively, family oriented event showcasing environmental conservation and our natural heritage. With a children's activity zone, live music, native wildlife shows, tree and shrub planting, a local food market, and environmental displays - there's lots to see and do!

•     Run, roll, laugh, and play as you learn about the watershed through children's games and activities

•     Take part in the 'Amazing Eco-Race'

•     Come face to face with native mammals, reptiles, and birds of prey from southern Ontario

•     Dig in! Plant a tree and help protect Mill Pond Park's natural heritage

•     Visit environmental groups and discover how to get involved in stewardship projects in your community

Lego Block Party at Oakridges Library

Did you know that the oakridges library offers a logo block party on certain weekdays.

Come out and build a Lego masterpiece! Lego fans meet and build a creation around a specific theme and share their stories with each other. We supply the Lego for this program. Please do not bring your own Lego into the program room.

Note: Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult to the program room for drop-off and pick-up.

Age group: 7 - 12 years old.
